Unboxing the VICARKO Portable Hair Steamer
The VICARKO Portable Hair Steamer arrived in a cheetah print design (my choice!), one of about ten different color/print options. The packaging was simple yet effective, and the steamer itself felt surprisingly sturdy for its price point.

It features two temperature settings: high (65°C) and low (45°C), allowing for customization depending on hair type and preference. The controls are straightforward with an on/off button and a power indicator light.

A convenient zipper allows you to detach the outer cover from the inner PVC liner for easy cleaning. The outer cover is hand-washable, while the inner lining is easily wiped down after use.
Using the Steamer for Deep Conditioning
After washing and conditioning my hair, I applied a deep conditioning mask. I decided to use the steamer on its high setting to maximize its effectiveness.
The lack of shower cap or plastic wrap meant I had to improvise slightly. I placed the steamer directly on my hair and hoped for the best. The cover's adjustable strap made it possible, but a more secure placement is preferable.
I noticed that the heat wasn't always consistent and that, as the product itself warned me, it switched off when it was too hot.
Final Thoughts and Verdict
After about 25 minutes under the steamer cap, my hair felt warm and deeply conditioned. The inside of the steamer remained relatively clean. There wasn't a significant amount of steam as the name would imply; the heat was more akin to that of a hooded dryer.
While the steamer didn't produce much steam, the consistent heat was effective for deep conditioning. It was quiet and allowed for multitasking. The adjustable strap was useful, and the small size makes storage easy.
The VICARKO Portable Hair Steamer is a decent alternative to bulkier hooded dryers. However, its effectiveness as a steamer is questionable— it's more accurately described as a heated bonnet. The inconsistent heat is an area for improvement, but overall the product delivers on its promise of comfortable and convenient deep conditioning.
